EmpowerHER is a transformative program developed by Positive About Possibilities, Inc. (PAP) that is dedicated to uplifting, inspiring, and equipping young girls and women with the tools they need to lead empowered lives. Rooted in the principles of self-discovery, resilience, and leadership, EmpowerHER provides a safe and nurturing space for participants to explore their identity, build self-esteem, and develop the confidence to overcome personal and societal challenges.

Through a holistic approach, EmpowerHER offers a range of workshops, mentorship opportunities, and hands-on experiences designed to address critical areas such as:

  • Leadership Development: Cultivating skills like decision-making, problem-solving, and public speaking.

  • Personal Growth: Building self-esteem, emotional intelligence, and mental wellness.

  • Life Skills Training: Equipping participants with essential life skills such as financial literacy, conflict resolution, and effective communication.

  • Career and Academic Readiness: Encouraging exploration of career paths, goal setting, and educational achievement.

EmpowerHER is more than just a program—it’s a movement that challenges participants to see their limitless potential. By fostering a sense of belonging and community, it promotes sisterhood, accountability, and the belief that every girl has the power to lead, achieve, and thrive. The ultimate goal of EmpowerHER is to prepare young women to become confident changemakers who are ready to take on leadership roles in their communities, schools, and future careers.

This initiative is designed to disrupt cycles of self-doubt and systemic barriers, empowering young women to see themselves as agents of change. EmpowerHER transforms mindsets, builds capacity, and prepares young women for a future where they are not only seen and heard but celebrated for their greatness.

Recovery Coaching and Certified Recovery Peer (CRP) Training at Positive About Possibilities, Inc. (PAP)

At Positive About Possibilities, Inc. (PAP), we believe in the transformative power of peer support and lived experience. Our Recovery Coaching and Certified Recovery Peer (CRP) Training programs are designed to empower individuals to become agents of change in their own lives and in the lives of others. Through these initiatives, participants gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to support individuals navigating the path to recovery from substance use, trauma, and mental health challenges.

Recovery Coaching

PAP’s Recovery Coaching program is rooted in the CCAR (Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery) model, which emphasizes the role of recovery coaches as motivators, mentors, and accountability partners. Recovery coaches at PAP are trained to provide non-clinical, strengths-based support to individuals working toward recovery and self-sufficiency. Coaches foster an environment of trust and compassion while helping participants identify their personal goals, access resources, and maintain long-term wellness.

Key elements of PAP’s Recovery Coaching program include:

  • One-on-One Support: Personalized coaching sessions to address each individual’s unique challenges and goals.

  • Accountability and Motivation: Encouraging consistency, positive decision-making, and sustained recovery efforts.

  • Resource Navigation: Connecting individuals with vital community services, healthcare, and employment opportunities.

  • Life Skills and Empowerment: Equipping individuals with the tools they need to achieve stability and independence.

Certified Recovery Peer (CRP) Training

PAP’s CRP Training is a comprehensive program that certifies individuals to become Certified Recovery Peers, equipping them to provide professional peer support services. This program is essential for those with lived experience who wish to guide others through their recovery journey. Participants learn how to facilitate peer support groups, advocate for individuals in recovery, and promote overall well-being.

Training topics include:

  • Ethics and Boundaries: Understanding the scope of practice for CRPs and maintaining professional integrity.

  • Trauma-Informed Care: Addressing the role of trauma in recovery and offering compassionate, person-centered support.

  • Communication and Active Listening: Building skills to effectively engage and support individuals in crisis.

  • Cultural Competency and Inclusivity: Recognizing the diverse needs of those in recovery and providing equitable support.

AED, CPR, and First Aid Training

In alignment with our mission to promote health, safety, and preparedness, PAP offers AED, CPR, and First Aid certification classes to both staff and community members. These life-saving skills empower individuals to respond confidently in emergency situations, ensuring the well-being of our participants and the broader community. PAP recognizes that safety is a fundamental aspect of wellness, and these certifications are essential for those working in community service, peer support, and transitional housing environments.

The AED, CPR, and First Aid classes provide participants with:

  • Hands-On Training: Real-life simulations to build competence and confidence in emergency response.

  • Nationally Recognized Certification: Industry-standard credentials that are widely accepted for employment and volunteer roles.

  • Emergency Preparedness: Skills to recognize emergencies and provide effective, life-saving support until professional help arrives.

Impact and Community Transformation

PAP’s Recovery Coaching, CRP Training, and AED, CPR, and First Aid courses are all part of a larger vision to build healthier, safer, and more self-sufficient communities. By providing these essential services and training opportunities, PAP empowers individuals to be leaders in their own recovery, role models for others, and community advocates for health and safety. Our approach ensures that participants not only receive support but are also equipped to give back, creating a ripple effect of empowerment and transformation.

These programs reflect PAP’s mission to cultivate pathways for personal growth, recovery, and leadership. Whether it's helping someone stay on the path to recovery, providing peer support, or saving a life in an emergency, PAP’s Recovery Coaching, CRP, and AED/CPR/First Aid programs are shaping stronger communities where every person has the chance to thrive

PAP’s Senior Program

The PAP Senior Yoga and Aerobics Program is a bi-weekly initiative designed to promote physical wellness, flexibility, and overall health for seniors in a supportive and engaging environment. This program combines gentle yoga movements and low-impact aerobics to enhance mobility, balance, and strength while reducing stress and promoting relaxation. In addition to physical activity, participants will have access to a selection of fresh, healthy fruits and vegetables, reinforcing the importance of nutrition in maintaining a vibrant and active lifestyle. By integrating movement with mindful eating, the program fosters holistic well-being, encouraging seniors to stay active, nourished, and connected within their community.
